Some more free vst plugins for electronic music production

arcade | 26 02 2007

I am going to carry on from a previous post and talk about another five high quality free vst plugins. These plugins are particularly good for the production of electronic / leftfield / experimental music as they generally they twist and glitch the incoming signal in a most satisfying way.

  1. db Glitch - It seems a bit odd that I missed this off the previous post, but I have been very late to this party. However having used it on a few bits of work in progress I find it is an incredibly powerful tool that can add an element of random glitchyness with a minimum fuss. I am lead to believe that this is a well known plugin, so if you do not want to be a scenester you should use sparingly. Oh yes and it looks a little like the lovely ‘Newscool’ Reaktor instrument.
  2. VL-1 - Introduce some real old skool vibe with this casio tone VL-1 emulator. Now this is rather good.
  3. Minion - lovely evolving filter that can be modulated by up to 12 LFO’s - barmy.
  4. H4xx0r - Thinking about buying Recycle to splice your favorite drum loop into samples….Before you do have a little look at this donationware tool. It does most of the key things that Recycle does and its free to try!
  5. Ambience - Try as I might, I could not keep away from the Smart Electronix plugins…They are all so darn good. Ambience is a real top quality reverb that you will not be able to believe it didn’t cost you a penny! Amazing.

So there you have it, my second installment of free vst plugins. No warranties implied, but hopfeully lots of fun sound mangling!!! If you like any of the software or use it heavily please donate to the author (even if it is only a few £’s) being as its these tokens that enable them to carry on.
